Supported by digital and intelligent technologies, the flipped classroom has become a key driver of teaching reform in higher education. However, investment studies courses still face challenges such as insufficient student autonomy, uneven classroom participation, weak knowledge application, and delayed transformation of the teacher's role. This paper innovatively integrates Case-Based Learning (CBL) with Task-Based Learning (TBL) to construct a hybrid “case + task” flipped classroom model. First, “Question Star” surveys were used to identify student study interests and align them with target flipped classroom chapters. Second, a closed-loop teaching model was designed: “pre-class case introduction—in-class progressive tasks—post-class report internalization.” Pre-class sessions use real-world cases to pose questions, in-class sessions employ progressive task chains to drive deep inquiry, and post-class sessions utilize summary case analysis reports to solidify knowledge. Practical results demonstrate that this model enhances students'learning autonomy, course engagement, and practical application skills. Simultaneously, it facilitates the transformation of the teacher's role from “knowledge transmitter” to “knowledge architect,” offering valuable insights for innovating teaching models in finance and economics courses at higher education institutions in the new era.

Solid waste treatment and disposal is a core course in environmental engineering. In the context of the New Engineering initiative and China's dual-carbon goals, the course should foster higher-order competencies for addressing complex engineering problems, including systems analysis, multi-criteria decision-making, risk control. To tackle slow content renewal, limited hands-on training, fragmented integration of curriculum ideological-political education, and insufficient assessable evidence, this study develops an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) closed-loop quality assurance framework: “course outcomes-learning activities-evidence of learning-attainment diagnosis-continuous improvement” . The course content was reorganized into a progressive “fundamentals-processes-frontiers” structure. We implemented a task-driven blended teaching model incorporating scenario-based ideological-political tasks, and established an experiment/simulation practice chain to enhance design-oriented and integrative training. Using unified item-to-outcome mapping and standardized rubrics, attainment was evaluated via a weighted score-rate method (threshold = 0.60). A historical comparison between the 2020 cohort (pre-reform) and the 2021 cohort (post-reform) shows that attainment for course outcomes 1/2/3 increased from 0.831/0.752/0.780 to 0.887/0.825/0.830, with more than 90% of students meeting the overall attainment threshold. These findings indicate enhanced outcome attainment and provide a replicable reference for similar courses facing safety constraints and high engineering complexity.

In response to the provincial initiative to develop the distinctive disciplinary cluster “smart building and environmental engineering” , this study addresses the disconnection between talent cultivation in environmental engineering and industry upgrading. Based on empirical findings from enterprise surveys and teacher-student discussions, systematic teaching reforms have been carried out. Centered on the “program objective achievement matrix” , a new curriculum system characterized by “four modules and three supports” was constructed. Through the cross-restructuring of the four modules—general education, disciplinary foundation, specialized courses, and innovation-entrepreneurship—along with the synergistic support of three pillars (competency attainment, practical teaching, and faculty development), the professional feature of “smart environmental protection” has been highlighted. The reform has achieved notable outcomes: student participation in discipline-related competitions increased by 50%; the teaching team obtained provincial/ministerial research awards and fed the results back into teaching; adjunct professors from top universities were invited to offer cutting-edge interdisciplinary courses. The research demonstrates that evidence-based systematic curriculum restructuring, coupled with the “dual-teacher dual-drive” model, serves as an effective pathway for local application-oriented universities to align with disciplinary cluster development and cultivate high-quality interdisciplinary environmental engineering talent.
