Abstract: Under the background of the construction of new engineering disciplines, China's higher education is facing many changes. As a core course in mechanical related majors, the course of mechanical principles has expanded its content, but there are still problems such as limited teaching resources, insufficient faculty construction, and a disconnect between theory and practice. Therefore, this article proposes reform measures such as expanding teaching resource channels, strengthening the construction of teaching staff, integrating theory with practice, integrating teaching content, adopting engineering project driven and personalized layered teaching strategies, aiming to cultivate high-quality composite new engineering talents who can adapt to the development needs of the new economy and new industries, and promote the innovative development of mechanical education.
