Abstract: In the context of the strategies of“Healthy China”and“Sports Power”, physical education teaching in universities needs to break through the traditional dominant mode of competitive sports and shift towards an educational direction that emphasizes both cultural inheritance and health literacy. However, at present, college physical education courses mainly focus on modern competitive projects, with a single teaching content that is difficult to meet the diverse needs of students. The integration of traditional ethnic sports can effectively enrich teaching forms. Based on this, the article elaborates on the significance of the integrated development of physical education teaching and traditional sports projects in Xinjiang universities, analyzes the current situation of the integrated development of physical education teaching and traditional sports projects in Xinjiang universities, and proposes strategies for the integrated development of physical education teaching and traditional sports projects in Xinjiang universities, aiming to provide reference for the integrated development of traditional sports and university physical education teaching.
