Abstract: This paper explores the application of project-based teaching in the course of metals corrosion and protection. By clarifying teaching objectives, designing project tasks, organizing project implementation, summarizing and reflecting, students can not only master the knowledge points in the course, but also apply them to practice, which is highly consistent with the direction of talent training under the background of new engineering. Practice shows that project-based teaching can effectively improve students'innovative and practical ability, and provide a useful reference for the teaching reform of metal material engineering.
