Abstract: Driven by the dual goals of building China into an education powerhouse by 2035 and the national“Maritime Power”strategy, innovative talent cultivation serves as the core link integrating education, science, and human resources. The School of Marine Sciences at Sun Yat-sen University has pioneered the in-depth undergraduate research training implementation of a“curriculum restructuring-training path innovation-safeguard mechanism synergy”trinity model. By analyzing undergraduate research training programs implemented from 2010 to 2025 and tracking data from 1,151 undergraduates and 120 mentors, this study reveals the intrinsic mechanisms connecting research training and innovation capability development, offering practical insights for cultivating innovative talents in marine sciences in the new era.
