Promoting the Development of Innovation Ability through Student Science and Technology Competitions—Taking the“Fishing Elite” Challenge as an Example

Abstract: Subject competitions play an important role in the comprehensive development and practical innovation ability enhancement of students. The Fisheries Department of Guangxi University closely focuses on the strategy of rural revitalization and modern fishery development, actively exploring the training mode of high-quality composite aquatic graduate students. The “Fishing Elite Challenge”is an important competition related to rural revitalization, technology driven agriculture, and innovation in the China Graduate Innovation Practice Competition. This article takes the“Fishing Elite Challenge”as an example and proposes measures to promote educational reform and cultivate innovative applied talents through competition. By positioning itself as a research-oriented university, we aim to cultivate students'innovative abilities, enhance graduate students'participation and sense of belonging to the discipline, and establish a system for safeguarding the interests and rewards of students and guidance teachers, in order to provide reference and guidance for the cultivation of innovative talents in higher aquaculture colleges.
