Abstract: This article focuses on general chemistry courses, deeply analyzing their teaching and educational connotations and goals, and exploring the rich value contained in the courses; through the investigation of multiple practical cases, the problems existing in the current chemistry general education courses in practice are revealed, including uneven depth and breadth of course content, insufficient innovation in teaching methods, inadequate implementation of ideological and political education, and insufficient ability assessment. Targeted optimization paths are proposed, including precise optimization of course content, diversified innovative teaching methods, strengthening teacher empowerment, and scientifically constructing assessment systems. The aim is to improve the teaching quality of chemistry general education courses, promote students'comprehensive development, provide useful references for relevant educators, and help chemistry general education courses play a greater role in higher education.
