Abstract: To meet the new era’s demands for cultural dissemination and regional economic and cultural development, the key to interpreting teaching in undergraduate English majors lies in integrating regional characteristics to cultivate localized interpreting talents who can contribute to regional development. This paper analyzes the significance of nurturing localized interpreting talents for Wenzhou and the challenges current interpreting teaching faces, in line with the objectives of the Interpreting course. An innovative teaching model for localized interpreting talents has been constructed on the theoretical foundation of interpreting competence development laws, along with constructivist learning theory. It emphasizes the incorporation of Wenzhou’s regional characteristics, aiming to pave new paths for cultivating localized interpreting talents. The study shows that the combination of Wenzhou’s local characteristics with a global perspective in foreign language interpreting can meet students’learning needs, and effectively enhance the quality of interpreting teaching, and contribute unique talent resources to the local economic and cultural development.
