Abstract: Engineering mechanics is an important foundational course in engineering, aimed at equipping students with the theoretical and practical foundations of mechanics to handle engineering related problems. This article analyzes the root causes of the problems of insufficient connection of teaching content, lack of knowledge system, outdated teaching methods, and single evaluation mechanism of engineering mechanics courses in universities, which are not conducive to the improvement of new quality productivity and talent cultivation. It explores innovative reform paths from four aspects: teaching philosophy, methods, content, and assessment mechanism, aiming to improve the teaching effectiveness of engineering mechanics courses and cultivate engineering talents that better meet the needs of the times.

Key words: Engineering mechanics, Reform in teaching, New quality productivity, Teaching effectiveness, Curriculum development, Cultivation of innovative ability
