Abstract: The evaluation of classroom teaching quality has always been a key content in higher education teaching reform. In this paper, aiming at the subjectivity, randomness, and complexity of traditional teacher-student questionnaire survey methods, a method for evaluating classroom teaching quality based on real-time detection of head-up rate is proposed. By improving the YOLOv5 model, a real-time detection algorithm for classroom head-up rate based on the improved model is implemented, serving as an auxiliary means for evaluating classroom teaching quality. Experimental verification and comparative analysis demonstrate that this method has the characteristics of objectivity, real-time feedback, and simplicity of operation, enabling timely and objective evaluation of classroom teaching quality. It can provide a scientific basis for the reform and innovation of course evaluation in various disciplines, offering strong support for improving teaching quality and optimizing teaching effectiveness.
