Innovation and Practice in Teaching General Writing Courses in Applied Undergraduate Universities in the New Era

Abstract: As a fundamental course for cultivating students'writing ability in universities, the general writing course in universities lags behind the current demand in the workplace. Based on this, this article proposes an innovative approach to teaching writing courses in universities by designing courses with competency education as the core, designing activity tasks with students as the main body, and establishing a diversified assessment and evaluation system. The integration of knowledge, ability, and educational goals is studied from multiple perspectives and levels, exploring practical approaches suitable for teaching general writing courses in universities, and leveraging the important role of general writing courses in talent cultivation in universities.
