Discussion of Practical Teaching of Soil Mechanics Course for Civil Engineering Major under the Background of New Engineering Education

Abstract: With the rapid development of engineering construction in our country and the application of a large number of new technologies, there is an urgent need for civil engineering majors in universities to improve the quality of talent cultivation. There are some deficiencies in the traditional teaching contents and methods of soil mechanics, which cannot highlight the characteristics of civil engineering specialty. The practical engineering application puts forward higher requirements for the teaching of soil mechanics. Therefore, based on the new engineering education concept, the soil mechanics teaching team pointed out the talent training objectives and positioning; Analyzes the main problems existing in soil mechanics course teaching, puts forward an all-round practical teaching system which consists of classroom theory teaching, classroom experiment, discipline competition, expert lecture and extracurricular practice in teaching, and the specific safeguard measures; Introduces the results of the practical teaching of soil mechanics course in Hunan Institute of Science and Technology. The purpose is to provide reference for the practical teaching of soil mechanics course required by new engineering education.
