Abstract: The course fundamental of materials engineering is a professional basic course that cultivates students' engineering application technology abilities, occupying an important position in undergraduate materials majors. By taking the course offered by the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Nanjing Tech University as a case, the teaching team, resources, methods and course assessment were explored to establish a teaching model for engineering courses. The combination of practice and theory inside and outside the classroom was promoted. The teaching reform improves the teaching quality and cultivates applied talents who meet the requirements of new engineering.
