Abstract: Engineering courses are characterized by strong practicality, and in-class experiments are the first step of combining theory with practice. This paper analyzes the unsatisfactory practical effect of the experimental course in engineering structure course due to the limitations of time, space, equipment investment, site environment and other factors. In order to improve the quality of practical teaching, numerical simulation technology is introduced on the basis of traditional laboratory practice, independent innovation projects are added, and the combination of virtual and real can better complete the promotion of theory and practice, and improve the effect of experimental teaching. The reform is student-centered, focusing on after-class feedback, process evaluation and differentiated general evaluation. This paper puts forward suggestions from the aspects of experimental content, teaching methods and assessment methods, changes the traditional teaching mode of“teaching, learning, practice and evaluation”, pays attention to the expansion and extension of knowledge, and forms a new practical teaching mode of“enlightenment, learning, practice, evaluation and extension”. The research of the innovation experimental project shows that it improves students' learning interest, cultivates students' innovative spirit, teamwork spirit and professional quality, moistens things, and finally achieves the knowledge goal, ability goal. It can provide reference for engineering specialty practice curriculum reform.
