Abstract: With the continuous development of water treatment theory and technology, the traditional "Water Treatment engineering (I)" course teaching has been unable to meet the goals of environmental engineering, water supply and drainage science and engineering and other related majors for industry talent training. This paper organically integrates the Outcome Based Education (OBE) concept into the Problem Based Learning (PBL)teaching method and creates a PBL teaching model based on the OBE concept. Taking the teaching of the "Water Treatment Engineering (I)" course as an example, on the basis of systematically investigating the needs of the industry and major employers for the training of professional talents, the teaching objectives of the course are reorganized; in view of the problems of traditional course teaching, the PBL teaching method is used to redesign the course teaching process of "Water Treatment Engineering (I)"; through the implementation of the new teaching model in the classroom of the water supply and drainage science and engineering major, the effect analysis and evaluation of the teaching reform are carried out. The process of practice shows that the PBL teaching model based on the OBE concept stimulates students' interest in the course, improves students' learning effectiveness, and provides professional knowledge and ability support for students' employment.
