Abstract: With the introduction of the goal of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality and the strategy of China’s strength in transportation, it is an inevitable requirement of the new era to update the concept of basic education in traffic engineering and strengthen the interdisciplinary integration. As a major involving many disciplinary fields, the talent cultivation mode of traffic engineering has to integrate the characteristics of different disciplines. In this paper, taking the traffic engineering major of Yangzhou University as an example, we discuss the realization path of cultivating talents in traffic engineering under the interdisciplinary integration from three levels of professional cultivation characteristics, curriculum system construction and the realization of cultivation goals. Through the transformation and upgrading of the existing traffic engineering majors, composite and innovative engineering professionals are cultivated, and at the same time, some references for the construction of similar majors and curriculum systems are provided.
