Application of DOPS on Dermatology Residency Standardized Training

Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of direct observation of procedural skill (DOPS) on dermatology residency standardized training. Methods Trainees in experimental group participated in the DOPS examination every 3 months, and take the National Medical Practitioners Examination after training. Trainees in control group got general summative evaluation mode. The DOPS assessment was conducted after training, and they also take in the national medical practitioner examination. Results The practitioners in the experimental group got significantly higher examination scores than the control group (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in the ability of in the ability to seek help, communication and humanistic care (P<0.05). Conclusion DOPS can improve the training effect and the score of clinical licensing examination.
