Abstract: English, as an international language, is drawing attention from an increasing number of undergraduates. However, these students are struggling to find a better way of learning in actual English learning even though they have realized the importance of mastering English language skills. Targeting at college English teaching and undergraduates' need for English self-learning abilities, this paper is intended to study methods for English teachers to cultivate students in the following aspects, including how to guide undergraduates to bring up their self-study abilities, and provide them with superior places for self-learning, as well as the way to help them develop a right attitude and goal towards self-study in English learning. With this research, we hope to create an atmosphere of self-study for undergraduates, where they can carry out self-controlled English learning based on the web before and after class.
