Abstract: Field geology course is critical for students majoring in Earth Science at Xinjiang University, China. Thus, the practical teaching platform is of great essence to gain better feedback in learning geoscience knowledge. Based on previous cognition problem in comparing and combing theoretical knowledge and practical experience, and most students were not present at campus due to COVID-19, we designed an online field course with multiple possibilities, such as sharing real time location and photos, tracking trajectory and on-line communication without phone reception. This mobile platform is implanted in students’ mobile phone which previous installed WeChat (with Rain-Classroom) and Ovital Map. This teaching method allows student to build a link between what they have learned in theory and what they will learn from fields, as well as to define and edit their own geological dictionary.
