Characteristics and Practice of Maker Education

Abstract: Maker education is a quality education based on DIY creation and sharing, which cultivates students' innovative creativity, interdisciplinary integration, teamwork and communication abilities. Maker education aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with innovative spirits. In recent years, it has gradually integrated into the traditional education system, and has a place in various schools, universities, communities and off-campus institutions. This paper discusses the qualities and abilities required to be a maker educator, and the training processes for maker educators; the stages that maker education needs to go through in the implementation process; and then suggestions were made on how to integrate maker education into school-based courses; finally, some reflections were made on the practice of maker education. It is expected to provide references to ensure that maker education is always in its best state of serving the current education system and its participants.
