Exploration and Practice of Primacy Effect in the First Class of Innovation Methods and Entrepreneurship Foundation——Take Tongji University as An Example

Abstract: “Innovation methods and entrepreneurship foundation” is a compulsory general course for undergraduates at Tongji University. The course content is closely connected with current events. The feature of this course that its theory is tightly combined with practice determines its pedagogy is different from the other courses. Based on the theoretical basis that the primacy effect can produce positive effects, through the analysis of the factors affecting the primacy effect in teaching, we carefully design the first class, and integrate "symbiosis", "group cooperation" and "change" as the key words fusing into the course, student-centered philosophy and students' innovative consciousness have been greatly enhanced and entrepreneurial ability has been strengthened. Through two years of practice, a novel teacher-student relationship (symbiosis) has been established. Efficient project-based team learning and diversified assessment methods have achieved good incentive effect. The first class based on the first cause effect greatly stimulates students' enthusiasm and motivation in learning. Students are more willing to actively participate in the course, and their innovative consciousness and ability are also cultivated in the process of learning.
