Abstract: In recent years, the phenomenon of "Chinese cultural aphasia" has been widely concerned by college English teachers in China. This paper tries to find a solution by analyzing the causes of "Chinese cultural aphasia". The Maker Education which seeks to cultivate students' comprehensive ability and accomplishment in multidisciplinary learning provides a new direction to solve this problem. On the basis of summarizing the characteristics of Maker Education, this paper puts forward the its teaching mode of college English development course, and expounds its main contents and advantages, in order to further promote the reform of college English teaching, realize the organic combination of English language, Chinese and foreign culture and other subjects, and train the innovative and internationally competitive talents with local cultural foundation.
