Abstract: Today, English education for young children has become an upsurge and an unavoidable, important and realistic topic in the field of preschool education in the new era. Through practical investigation and research, this paper probes into the current situation of preschool English education in Yichang City. It is found that there are some drawbacks and misunderstandings in preschool English education: more than half of kindergarten managers and teachers do not think it is necessary to carry out it, preschool institutions and parents have different views on the goals of preschool English education, and preschool English teachers are lack of pedagogical knowledge. Based on this, this paper puts forward some corresponding countermeasures: establishing a correct concept of English education for young children, defining the objectives of English teaching for young children, reasonably screening teaching contents, exploring diversified teaching approaches, and strengthening the training of English teachers for young children.
