Abstract: As a core course in fire engineering, the teaching of building fire protection faces a growing need for optimization and reform, due to certain gaps between its current state and the rapidly evolving demands of the industry. There remains room for improvement in areas such as the updating of teaching content, the diversity of teaching and assessment methods, and the depth of practical training. In response, this study proposes a systematic reform: updating course content through a“standards-synchronized, frontier-integrated, interdisciplinary-coordinated”mechanism; innovating teaching methods with a“blended, digitalized, and visualized”system; and deepening industry-education integration while reforming assessment models—all aimed at shifting the teaching paradigm from knowledge delivery to competency development. It is expected that these reforms will effectively enhance teaching effectiveness and students'practical engineering capabilities, thereby better supporting the cultivation of professionals who can meet industry needs.
