Abstract: The cultivation of core competencies is a manifestation of the fundamental task of implementing moral education, and general education is an important way for universities to achieve this goal. Based on the perspective of core competencies, the reform of general education courses can take the following path: integrating general education courses with professional courses, guiding value orientation with the spirit of general education, constructing modular teaching organizational forms for core courses, and strengthening ideological and political education in courses. Based on this, this article constructs a framework for the reform of general education courses under the background of core literacy: taking core literacy as the starting point and destination, establishing a people-oriented teaching philosophy, optimizing and integrating course resources, combining multiple teaching methods, and constructing a diversified evaluation mechanism, providing theoretical basis and practical guidance for the reform of general education courses in universities.
