Abstract: With the development of the times, the goal of talent cultivation in universities must shift towards innovation. However, the traditional classroom teaching model only serves as a passive receiver for students, which is not conducive to cultivating their innovative thinking. This article takes the course of solar photovoltaic technology and application as an example to explore and practice the teaching mode of“roots, stems, and leaves”. In the teaching process,“roots”are the foundation of the course,“stems”are the main knowledge points of the course, connecting basic knowledge with practical applications, and“leaves”are the details of the course. Students can choose according to their interests and actual needs. The teaching model of“roots, stems and leaves”is student-centered, fully mobilizing students'enthusiasm and initiative in learning, developing their innovative thinking, and cultivating college students who can adapt to the needs of modern social development. It is hoped that it can provide new ideas for the teaching reform of other courses.
