Abstract: The theoretical mechanics course occupies an important position in the talent cultivation plan of engineering majors, but due to the need to consider the average level of students, class hour arrangement and course content setting in traditional teaching models leads to the result that the overall difficulty of the course is average. In order to gradually achieve the requirement of“high order, innovative, and challenging”, the teaching team has explored a graded teaching method for the theoretical mechanics course. According to the principle of teaching according to individual aptitude, a comprehensive exploration of the graded teaching method of theoretical mechanics has been carried out in the teaching stages of course objectives, learning content and teaching methods, assessment methods, and in extracurricular practice. It has been applied to teaching practice and has made some initial achievements.
