Abstract: Civil engineering construction technology is a core component of the field of civil engineering, requiring students to have a solid theoretical foundation and practical operational skills. The teaching model based on practical ability cultivation plays an important role in this regard. It emphasizes the integration of classroom learning with actual construction projects, providing students with a more comprehensive educational experience through strategies such as simulated engineering, safety training, feedback, and evaluation. However, this model also faces some challenges, including technology update speed, security risks, time and resource requirements. This article will discuss in detail the characteristics, strategies, and challenges of the teaching mode of civil engineering construction technology based on practical ability cultivation, and explore how to improve teaching mode to address these challenges to ensure that students can successfully apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in practical engineering projects.
