Abstract: The academic writing ability and communicative ability exert enormous impact on the development of scientific research for medical students. During academic English learning, students have cultivated the competence of language input, however, they are trying hard to improve their competence of language output, especially their English oral competence. This study taking the students from the clinical medicine department in Chengdu Medical College as the subjects explores the methods to improve medical students'English oral competence under the guidance of Product-oriented approach (POA). Employing such quantitative analysis as statistical data analysis and qualitative analysis as teaching journals, the study has demonstrated that POA is crucially efficient in improving English oral competence of medical students because there was significant difference in English oral competence between the experimental group and control group (P≤0.01).
