Practice Research on the Cultivation of Innovation Ability of Civil Engineering Students Based on Structural Design Competition

Abstract: The structural design competition of civil engineering majors is of great significance to cultivate students' innovative design ability, practical ability and teamwork consciousness. By participating in the competition, students can skillfully use the basic principles of mechanics and analysis methods to select the concept of structural model, master the mechanical properties and applicable conditions of engineering materials, and use finite element software to calculate the strength and deformation of the model, which effectively achieves the goal of cultivating the innovative design and engineering practice ability of college students. Civil engineering majors in colleges and universities can rely on structural design competitions to cultivate students' learning ability, engineering practice ability, innovative spirit and teamwork spirit, and finally achieve the purpose of cultivating innovative skills talents.
