Abstract: In order to take the initiative to cope with the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, the state began to actively promote the reform and innovation of the engineering profession, requiring the training of students according to the needs of the industry and the practical engineering. For the oil and gas storage and transportation industry, it is required that the students majoring in oil and gas storage and transportation engineering have the knowledge of pipeline facility safety and the ability to solve complex practical projects. In view of the problems of strong exam-oriented and low practicability of the course, the teaching team takes the cultivation of comprehensive practical ability of the students of this major as the guidance, exploring the students' learning of software operation after class and assisting the theoretical teaching in class. The new teaching mode of engineering training instead of classroom examination, the construction of the course evaluation system with field experts as the judge of the final defense, the training of oil and gas storage and transportation engineering students' engineering thinking and the ability to initially solve practical engineering problems, effectively improve students' sensitivity to engineering problems and engineering practice ability.
