Abstract: This paper presents a teaching experiment program designed for undergraduate students majored in energy and power engineering, refrigeration and cryogenic engineering. The teaching purpose is to investigate the effect of particle structures on apparent thermal conductivity of soil type medium based on the thermal conductivity instrumentation and the simulation platform. The key test instrument is a self-developed thermal conductivity probe and the key visualization platform is a self-designed software. The operation complexity of the experiments designed in this program gradually increase to meet different requirements and train students in different levels. The designed experimental course has highly visualization and strong participatory. It is also closely connected to the application background of renewable energy. All of these enhance students' theoretical understanding and research interests towards professional engineering techniques.
