Abstract: In order to meet the needs of experimental teaching reform in the field of ecology in the western region, this article constructs an innovative experimental teaching system for undergraduate students using plant nutrient aggregation system experiments as a carrier. Through systematic scientific research training, a“theory operation analysis”integrated teaching mode is established, focusing on enhancing students'knowledge integration and innovation ability. Plant functional traits and relative interaction index (RII) are introduced in teaching to guide students to quantitatively analyze nutrient aggregation phenomena in arid areas. Feedback shows that students believe that this case effectively connects theory and practice, clarifies the learning path, has high satisfaction, and can provide reference for relevant comprehensive experimental reforms.
