Abstract: The rapid advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) technology presents new opportunities and challenges for innovating engineering education models. This paper explores how GAI empowers project-based learning (PBL) and constructs a“GAI-PBL”dual-drive teaching model within the fundamental course of IoT engineering practice. It elaborates on the entire teaching practice process, from project initiation to achievement demonstration. Practice has shown that GAI empowerment enables lower-year students to easily get started and stimulates their autonomous and innovative learning abilities, while also posing new demands for information discernment and academic integrity. This study provides theoretical and practical foundations for engineering curriculum reform in the AI era.
