Abstract: Friction and wear are the main failure modes of mechanical components, and it is particularly important to cultivate urgently needed and scarce tribology talents and improve the scientific research and education mechanisms for reducing friction and wear technology. However, traditional teaching methods are no longer able to meet the teaching needs of the interdisciplinary field of tribology principles in the new era, and exploring new teaching methods has become an urgent problem for educators in tribology principles. This article takes the application value of tribology principles as the background, combines the development and evolution process of tribology, and explores the teaching reform of tribology principles using project driven method. It explains the implementation strategy of project driven teaching from three aspects: project planning, project division of labor, and evaluation of overall project effect. Finally, based on the characteristics of tribology principles course, it analyzes the difficulties and countermeasures of implementing teaching reform using project driven method.
