Abstract: In order to develop students’ability to solve complex engineering problems, the teaching innovation and practice of integrated practice course was carried out in the mechanical design, manufacturing and automation major of application-oriented college. Focusing on complex engineering problems and integrating multiple professional core courses, a modular comprehensive practice curriculum system with tasks as the main line, abilities as the goal, teachers as guidance and students as the center was constructed. The four elements teaching method of“lecturing-self-study-discussion-dialogue”was applied to promote the organic integration of theory teaching and engineering practice. The spiral rise of theoretical knowledge and practical ability was realized. The actual products of enterprises were used to construct complex engineering problem situations and the teaching process becomes the process of knowledge application. The ability to solve complex engineering problems and the quality of training in application-oriented colleges were improved.
