Abstract: Mathematical experiments and mathematical software are important core courses for cultivating students majoring in applied mathematics. This article explores reforms from three aspects: teaching methods, teaching content, and assessment methods. The teaching method has been changed from the traditional“classroom teaching”to the“theoretical foundation+classroom experiments+classic case library”model; Divide the teaching content into three modules based on the difficulty level: basic experiments, comprehensive experiments, and modeling competitions for implementation; The assessment method has been changed from a single assessment to a comprehensive and diversified assessment. After two years of teaching and competition practice, the results show that the assessment scores, software programming skills, participation of teachers and students in modeling competitions, and award rate of mathematical experimental courses have significantly improved. Therefore, through this new exploration of teaching mode, it has effectively improved students'enthusiasm for learning mathematical experiments and enriched their second classroom; The new teaching model of the system has greatly promoted the promotion of mathematical experimental courses, further improving teaching effectiveness, and promoting the favorable development of modeling competitions.
