Abstract: Scenic area landscape planning and design is a highly practical and comprehensive professional course. Taking the scenic area landscape planning and design course for environmental design majors as an example, this study discusses the necessity of curriculum reform and explores relevant practical activities. It identifies challenges such as insufficient student motivation, disconnection between teaching and practical application, lack of multidimensional design thinking, and a single evaluation method. Optimization strategies include enhancing student learning interest, meeting industry demands, integrating ideological and political education into the curriculum, and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration. The study further recommends improving teacher expertise, adopting case-based and project-based teaching methods, and providing competition guidance to enhance students' theoretical and practical abilities, thereby cultivating innovative and socially responsible talents in environmental design.
