Curriculum and Textbook Development for Professional English in Crop Genetics and Breeding under the Background of New Agricultural Science—Case Study of Shenyang Agricultural University

Abstract: Professional English for crop genetics and breeding is an elective course designed for undergraduate students majoring in agronomy. The curriculum and textbook development are guided by the new agricultural science talent cultivation and relevant policy, aiming to enhance students'professional English proficiency. The course focuses on accurately explaining the meanings of specialized vocabulary, strengthening listening and reading skills, and integrating the exemplary role of instructors in the application of professional English, along with ideological and political education, to stimulate students' interest in learning and applying professional English. Additionally, the course has established a comprehensive item bank and assessment mechanism, creating a feedback loop that combines teaching and feedback. This course has been continuously implemented at the College of Agronomy, Shenyang Agricultural University, and has achieved positive results, providing valuable reference for the construction of professional English courses in other agricultural and forestry universities.
