Abstract: Under the background of the new liberal arts, in order to train the local applied talents to adapt to the local economic development, the article first analyzes the problems existing in the urban management major. Secondly, aiming at the problem of weak integration and lack of practice, the practical teaching content of“urban management”major is designed with the support of service learning theory. On the practical level, we take the community as the internship platform and carry out the community internship deeply as a“small incision”. Thirdly, the community internship was completed by means of“before service - during service - after service”, review, review, mixed discussion, etc. Finally, with the results of“broad depth”as output, new suggestions were put forward for the improvement and improvement of local grassroots social governance and community welfare service level. This model follows the interdisciplinary talent training method of the new liberal arts concept, and provides compound talents according to the needs of social development, which also provides suggestions for the practical teaching of urban management.
