Abstract: Software engineering is an important foundational course in majors such as computer science, software engineering, and big data, playing a crucial role in connecting the past and the future in the talent cultivation system. However, there are common problems in existing teaching procedure, such as too many theoretical points without organic integration, outdated cases that are disconnected from the hot topics of the times, and students’interest in learning is generally not high, which restrict the quality of course teaching to some degree. Therefore, this article proposes a new teaching reform model for the software engineering course driven by scientific research projects, striving to carry out the teaching reform of the software engineering course from three dimensions: teaching philosophy, teaching content, and teaching methods. Empirical analysis shows that this model can connect theoretical knowledge, dynamically optimize course teaching content, and actively connect with hot issues, fully stimulate students’learning interest, effectively improve course teaching effectiveness, and lay an important foundation for improving the quality of training computer and software engineering talents.
