Abstract: Subject competitions have become increasingly developed and enriched, and have become an important practical link in the cultivation of innovative talents and the improvement of practical ability in colleges and universities. The training of civil engineering professionals in higher education needs to constantly update the training objectives, reform the teaching mode and talent training system. In the process of talent training reform, how to effectively play the role of discipline competition in the training process of civil engineering professionals and improve the innovative and practical ability of civil engineering talent training needs to be deeply explored and explored. This paper discusses the efficient integration of discipline competition and talent training, the important role of discipline competition activities in education and teaching, innovative talent training, etc., and the integration of discipline competition and traditional teaching, and the synergy of the two. After preliminary research and practice, the strategy of integrating discipline competition into talent training mode is reconstructed, teaching methods are innovated, and the training mode of innovative practical ability of civil engineering talents is established, which provides reference experience for improving the quality of civil engineering talent training and exploring the path of civil engineering specialty construction and reform.
