Abstract: The genetics course is an important basic compulsory course for agricultural majors, which is highly relevant and integrated with the crop genetic breeding series courses. The course is based on the needs of talent cultivation in the context of the new agricultural science, relying on the Talent Cultivation Programme of Xinjiang Agricultural University, and is aimed at reforming and innovating the current problems in the design and undergraduate teaching process of the genetics course for seed science and engineering majors. By optimizing and integrating the teaching contents, incorporating the elements of course thinking and government, improving the diversified assessment and evaluation system of the course, and establishing a three-stage teaching link of online platform pre-study before class, interactive teaching between teachers and students during class, and improvement and consolidation after class, we can fully mobilize students' learning enthusiasm, increase their participation in the course, stimulate their innovation and practice and improve their overall quality, and actively lay the foundation for cultivating special practical and applied agronomy talents in the context of new agricultural science.
