On Cultivation of English Majors'Critical Thinking Abilities under Guidance of CSE——A Case Study of Speech and Debate Course

Abstract: Based on the National English Professional Talent Training Program (2020), this article discusses how students can effectively learn and improve their critical thinking abilities in speech and debate course under the guidance of China Standards of English(CSE). Through an 8-week teaching experiment, demonstrates that the self-assessment scale of CSE has a promoting effect on the improvement of English majors'self-reflection capacities, the enhancenent of critical thinking abilities and the cultivation of versatile talents. This study provides some effective methods to learn speech and debate course and enhance their critical thinking abilities.
