Abstract: As the new technologies and theories are updated rapidly in the new period, new challenges are required to the teaching of irrigation and drainage subject. And thus, in order to meet the needs of the period, it is necessary to study the curriculum reform of the irrigation and drainage engineering. Generally, students were not interested in the subject, and the content of textbook was behind the Times. During the teaching, fundamental theory was heightened while practice was lighted, besides that, teaching methods were outdated and unchanged. Therefore, ideological education should be enhanced to establish the value of the specialty and curriculum, also the study interest and the sense of responsibility. Contents of the course should be adjusted and expanded according to the demands of times. Practice teaching, by the method of fieldwork cognition, teaching experiments and scientific researches, should be intensified to promote the cognitive level. The new teaching methods, which take the advantages of network and contain new teaching ideas, should be explored and advanced to elevate the teaching efficiency.
