Abstract: With the development of society, the industry's demand for talent is changing all the time. The new stage of development puts forward higher requirements on the professional ability of teachers in application-oriented colleges and universities.This paper takes the improvement of teachers' professional ability in application-oriented universities as the research object, combines with the new needs in the new development stage, analyzes the current situation of teachers' professional ability development, explores the path of teachers' professional ability improvement in application-oriented universities, and puts forward new ideas for the development of teachers' professional ability.
