Teaching Design of Humanistic Reading Course for the Cultivation of Student Key Competences in Undergraduate English Major Education

Abstract: Teaching Guide for Undergraduate English Majors points out that undergraduate English major education should produce talents oriented towards competences, which happens to meet the aim of the production-oriented approach to cultivate student key competences in university foreign language courses. This paper presents a case of the teaching design of Asimov’s True Love through the production-oriented approach to achieve cultivation of student key competences. The case shows that crucial to the whole teaching design is enabling, which serves as a cohesive device between motivating and assessing to repair deficiencies in learning. It will help students achieve high performance in the completion of communication task.
