Abstract: This paper focused on the problems existing in the cultivation of innovative learning and practical ability of students in local colleges. The causes of the problems such as outdated content of practical courses, few practical platforms and low enthusiasm of teachers to participate were systematically analyzed. This paper puts forward specific reform measures and gave specific innovative learning and practical ability training programs. This could effectively improve the enthusiasm of teachers and students and solved the resource constraints of local colleges and universities. In a word, the purpose of reform and exploration was to improve the ability of engineering students to solve complex engineering problems.
