Abstract: By means of translation text analysis and questionnaire, it is found that there are obstacles to understanding and expression for non-English major college students. This paper analyzes the causes of translation obstacles from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. Namely, college students' bilingual cognitive ability and target language expression are obviously inadequate, and the concept system of the mother tongue has an impact on the process of understanding and expression. What’s more, there is negative transfer in translation practice. Therefore, students should be enabled to get rid of the rigid concept system of the mother tongue and gradually understand and apply the target language in the translation teaching, so as to effectively restructure the concept system of language in the brain.
