Abstract: Taking the freshmen as the object to carry out the first popularization education of science and innovation, combining with the professional characteristics of each college. This education is supposed to start from the introduction of key competitions, the history, present situation and development prospect of the major, as well as the leading role of typical cases and examples, all of which are conducive to guiding freshmen to gradually understand science and innovation based on their majors and strengthening the value orientation for them. For students, the popularization of science and technology innovation enables them to be engaged in “the first course of science and technology innovation”with professional characteristics in the freshman stage, so as to prepare for the development of science and technology innovation and study of their majors during university, and build solid foundations for the excellent academic atmosphere. Focusing on the construction of the contents and methods of science and innovation popularization education for freshmen with professional characteristics, a set of "the first course of science and technology innovation" for freshmen with professional characteristics is formed to effectively supplement the daily learning of the major.
